Who is Ubisoft Blue Byte?

Blue Byte is a proud member of the Ubisoft family since 2001. Ubisoft Blue Byte is the name given to the German Ubisoft studio network consisting of three distinct studios in Düsseldorf, Mainz and Berlin. You can find more about us here.

How can I start my career at Ubisoft Blue Byte?

Are there any trainee programs?

Ubisoft cares not only for the professionals of today but also for the talent of tomorrow. To support young talents early on, we have initiatives such as Ubisoft Education and the Ubisoft Graduate Program.

Do you offer internships?

We offer academic internships for students, so if you would like to get to know us for a period of 6 months, we would be delighted to receive your application via our Career portal. If you have a portfolio, please feel free to add it and double-check if your links work. We offer different internships throughout the year. You can find current vacancies in the job list.

What about internships for pupils?

Sadly, we can’t offer internships for pupils as our internships are designed for a minimum duration of 6 months.

Can I work as a freelancer?

To us, the working atmosphere in a permanent bonded team is extremely important. Therefore, we cannot offer our positions on a freelance basis.

There is no job available for me currently, what shall I do now?

Applications and Interviews

What does a good application look like?

Generally, your application should contain the following parts: a cover letter, a CV, relevant educational or training certificates, and samples of your portfolios (For game developers, it is always welcome to have your GitHub or Artstation link if available). In your cover letter/CV, it is also important to mention your motivation, earliest start date, and salary expectations.

What does the recruitment process look like?

We offer a wide range of positions. That’s why the recruiting process varies from position to position. Here is a general overview of the recruiting stages:

  1. You submit an online application via our career portal.
  2. We review your application.
  3. If your profile fits the position requirements, a recruiter will conduct a phone interview to find out more about you.
  4. If this call is successful, we will invite you for a personal interview with the hiring team and sometimes we ask you to conduct a technical assessment. This stage can have several interviews.
  5. If you ace all those stages, we will move to the offer stage.

How can I prepare for the interview?

We know that interviews can be stressful for many people. We like to get to know the authentic side of you. Before your first interview (Usually via video/audio call), please make sure that you have a quiet environment with a stable (internet) connection. If you would like to be prepared, feel free to do a little research about our company, or note any question you might have about this job.

Can I re-apply to a job?

Yes, you can. Please remember, when you re-apply, make sure that your updated CV and portfolio are included with all your latest qualifications which might help get your dream job. If you are not qualified at this time, don’t worry, take your time to improve your skill sets and expertise so that you have a better chance for the next application when you are ready.

Will I receive an answer for a speculative application?

Ubisoft receives a high amount of job applications each day. Sadly, we cannot guarantee an answer to speculative applications. Does Ubisoft Blue Byte offer relocation support?

Yes. In the past years, we have hired international employees from across 55 different countries.
