The Role

As a Lead Level Designer, you’ll be challenged with supporting the level design team in creating FUN levels. You’ll oversee everything, from team development to planning, creative, stakeholder management (both internal and external), and collaborations with Ubisoft studios all over the world.

  • Be the voice of your team when working with Directors and your Lead peers. Provide industry-leading quality benchmarks and best practices in accordance with the game's creative vision
  • Anticipate and recognize potential conflicts and recommend solutions to the team, producer, or line manager
  • Maintain project clarity and ensure the project is both sustainable and reaching the quality expected by internal and external stakeholders.
  • As a Hiring Manager, work with Recruitment and build a diverse Level Design team. Ensure that new employees integrate the team

Your Impact

As our new Engine Programmer you get the opportunity to create the technical backbone of the game and production pipeline. 

Through a focus on visualization related technologies, from low-level to high-level, you provide all the development teams with technical solutions to produce and carry out their vision and intentions into the game. 

You will develop engines, tools and systems to ensure optimal and sustainable performance of the game and pipeline.   

  • Provide and maintain the technical foundations for visualization features that assist our AAA production in creating memorable experiences for our players 
  • Research, design, implement and maintain graphics modules with a strong focus on performance, target platform budget and reusability.
  • Work on multiple platforms in areas such as rendering api, asset processing, terrain and other environment systems, lighting and special effects like post-processing and particles.
  • Maintain and extend the existing graphics frameworks, safeguarding and improving stability and performance
  • Work with the team on realizing their game vision while maintaining the time, frame and memory budgets 
  • Analyze and improve performance and memory footprint of graphics and pipeline features for all target platforms.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Graphics Programming, Engine Programming or 3D programming
  • Strong C++
  • Experience with current rendering APIs (DirectX 12, Vulkan, Metal) 
  • Knowledge of industry standard CPU and GPU architectures
  • Good knowledge of advanced mathematics

As a Senior Tools Programmer you belong to Anno's Tools Department. It will be your mission to take ownership of our tool pipeline and to improve it in close collaboration with other departments. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role

A Senior Technical Designer is a solution finder and liaison between designers and other disciplines. They help with shaping the architecture of complex features and location ingredients; as well as, creating and implementing complex technical design elements into the game. They are advocates for production efficiency and product quality for system development and world creation by mentoring others and highlighting constraints.

What you’ll be doing

  • Implement and take ownership for complex features and location setups
  • Optimize feature implementations and generalize recurring blocks of logic into reusable libraries
  • Provide constructive, critical feedback and accurate risk assessments for production and other departments for planned features and locations considering engine and toolset constraints
  • Review built locations and features to ensure they are set up according to metrics, with budget limitations in mind, and stay in a maintainable state
  • Create training materials and conduct workshops for designers and level artists working on locations or features to advocate best practices
  • Debug issues with features or locations and implement or suggest reliable solutions until production has ended
  • Obtain in-depth knowledge of engine and data authoring tools to identify potential areas for improvement, to grow troubleshooting expertise, and to directly support game and level designers should they encounter issues
  • Mentor junior members of the technical design team and other designers interested in growing their technical expertise

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of:
    • (Visual) Scripting languages and programming concepts
    • Game editors and engines
  • Demonstrated understanding of design principles and the workflows needed to achieve them
  • Ability to work with complex logic and data structures which are reusable and modular
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation for technical and non-technical audience
  • Being creative (original and resourceful in finding solutions)

From design and prototyping to creating 3D assets, you will shape the universe of Beyond Good And Evil 2. You work closely with the lead artist and your colleagues in concept art to realize buildings, environments, landscape elements and game objects that bring the artistic vision of our game to life.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with the lead artist understand the overall game vision and quality goals
  • Design, prototype and create AAA quality game assets, while staying organized and meeting agreed deadlines  
  • Work closely with concept artists; study their concepts and research your own references in order to bring a believable but breathtaking world to live
  • Find balance between artistic aspects and technical constraints with the help of the lead artist
  • Iterate to improve your work based on feedback from your lead and interdependent team members

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • At least 3 years of experience in 3D Art (ideally within video games); Creating 3D models and textures
  • Excellent knowledge of 3DS Max and Photoshop
  • Strong technical understanding of 3D creation processes
  • Creative mindset with a very good eye for details
  • Good texturing and drawing skills
  • Ability to deliver high- and low poly assets
  • Ability to get best results using normal maps and material usage
  • Good command of spoken and written English
